I'm all over the place

Just to keep y'all in the loop, I'm posting today so that you don't think I've been neglectful of this site for no reason. I've just been busy, as it seems a lot of us are these days.

First up, check out Palate to Pen, I recently began my quest for enhanced culinary smarts.

Second, two weekends ago I spent an entire Saturday as part of the backgroundof an American Express commercial. Ten hours were spent dressed as yes, a busser. I felt like I was 15 again in my first job...I wasn't even part of the shoot :) But, i did get to be a stand-in for another actress for the other few hours of the shoot, which was an interesting role to play, and much less tiring than walking through a scene over and over and over again.

I've been reading The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant and finished yesterday. She maps out so exquisitely the geography and chaos of Italy in the late 1400s as well the complicated landscape of her characters' minds. I wanted to finish it to progress, but also wanted not to so I could linger in their world for a bit longer.

Knitting and lamp decoupaging fill in the blank moments of my days. But more interesting was Marathon Monday spent with the Red Sox and the recent NBA playoff game spent with our good ole Celtics. Nils is grumpy because they were down in the first quarter against Mr. L James and his compadres, but soon they were coaxed into usual form by the ecstatic crowd.

I'm also pleased to announce the discovery of a book named after the nickname Nils christened me with a couple of years ago. Here is his mom holding it with pride as we're often referred to as the "nerds on parade." And, yes, we're in a bookstore...So, you see, I haven't been lounging in lazy comfort too far from a computer to make some progress, I've been running around, but am happy to share these moments with you.

Also, a wedding update: Nils's mom emailed me her guest list. Yay! I can finally use The Knot's online guest list tool. And, we should be picking a date within the next month or so. Most likely next Spring or Fall. After this rainy May I'm afraid to have it next May...
